A family run business, Fyne Ales brewery was set up in 2001 using the redundant milking parlour in the traditional farm buildings at Achadunan, Cairndow, Argyll. The design of the brewery and the process of brewing was arranged to make as little environmental impact on Glen Fyne as possible. Water is sourced from a burn above the brewery. The draff is fed to a fold of Highland cattle and yeast and hops are used as fertiliser on the farm.
The brewery aims to make outstanding beers hence "Uncommonly fine ales".
